9 小結

本文重在說明語義演變有一定的方向性。這種有一定方向性的語義演變，大多是源于語用推理，跟主觀化有關。語義演變的規律性，促使我們注意語義內部的獨立的演變，而慎言其他詞語的沾染、類推。明顯的例子是漢語史上“以、取、持、將、把、捉”等都發展為表示處置，可是都是獨立發展，沒有誰影響誰的問題。Croft（2000：23）提到：西班牙語中的“中間語態”（middle voice）-se標記和俄語中的中間語態標記-sja盡管同源，它們仍然是從各自的反身代詞形式獨立演變而來。

關于語義演變和句法演變的關系，大致有兩種可能：語義演變驅動句法演變，重新分析不改變直接成分的邊界；句法演變驅動語義演變，重新分析通常改變直接成分的邊界。即使是單純的句法演變，也有很強的規律性，可以一而再再而三地在一種語言中反復出現，比如“存在否定（‘他沒時間’）>一般否定（‘他沒吃飯’）”的演變（參看張敏 2002），以及英語、法語等發生過的否定的演化循環：“否定+動詞 > 否定+動詞+否定 > 動詞+否定”（Roberts and Roussou 1999；Kemenade 2000）。在考慮句法演變時，同樣應該重視內部演變的規律性，而慎言外部因素的類推或借入。
