(1)　石黑一雄在一篇題為《撒切爾的倫敦與政治變革時代的藝術家角色》（Thatcher's London and the role of the artist in a time of political change）的回憶性文章中稱，莉諾·馬歇爾太太（Mrs Lenore Marshall）是一九八二年冬他搬入的倫敦一幢維多利亞時代住宅的房東太太（“A few years later，following Lenore's sudden death，I dedicated The Remains of the Day to her memory.”）。
