Domain and technical expertise
The domain expertise corresponds to the knowledge the user has about the system and the process itself. A person who has been working for a company for many years will probably have a deep knowledge about the methods and steps to get a task completed. Technical expertise refers to the skills a person has in a solid field. For example, a person can have lots of experience using the computer or surfing the net.
Each user will have some technical expertise and some background about the domain itself, and both will work together when the user starts using our system. A user with a lot of domain experience will have more ability to recognize specific field vocabulary, and he will try to solve problems by following learned procedures.
The progressive disclosure technique allows you to adapt the system to different levels of expertise, giving more complex tools for advanced users. New users will find a reduced number of tools that will be expanded according to the progress in our system.
