1Life（生平）

Lady Gregory’s former name is Isabella Augusta Persse. She is a famous Irish playwright. She was born in Galway County of Ireland. She loves her nation and hopes that Ireland can be liberated from British colonial rule. In 1904, she and Yeats, together with other people, founded the famous Abbey Theatre and established Irish Players based on it. Lady Gregory is better at the creation of one-act plays. These plays are set in the countryside or towns and describe the real life of farmers and people from low class.

格菜葛瑞夫人，原名伊莎貝拉·奧古斯塔·珀斯，愛爾蘭優(yōu)秀的劇作家。她生于愛爾蘭高爾韋郡，熱愛自己的民族，希望愛爾蘭能從英國的殖民統(tǒng)治下解放出來。1904年，她與葉芝等人創(chuàng)辦了著名的阿貝劇院，并以這個劇院為中心建立了愛爾蘭民族劇團。格萊葛瑞夫人更擅長獨幕劇的創(chuàng)作。這些劇本多以農(nóng)村或小鎮(zhèn)為背景，描寫農(nóng)民和下層人民的現(xiàn)實生活。

◆The Rising of the Moon《月亮上升的時候》

During the Irish national liberation war, a policeman is responsible for catching escaping revolutionist in the wharf. He intends to just perform his duty and get promotion and award. However, later he is moved by the revolutionist’s struggle spirit for his nation and let him leave.

This play is a political play of British-Irish relation. It has no fierce battle scenes, but its spirit of resist foreign invasion is encouraging. It displays Lady Gregory’s hope of national independence and getting rid of colonial rule.

愛爾蘭民族解放戰(zhàn)爭期間，一個警察在碼頭上負責捉拿逃跑的革命者。警察原來只想著履行職責、升官發(fā)財，后來被革命者的民族斗爭精神所打動，主動放走了他。

該劇是展現(xiàn)英國與愛爾蘭之間關系的政治劇。此劇沒有激烈的打斗場面，但抵御外辱的精神振奮人心，表達了格菜葛瑞夫人希望民族獨立，擺脫殖民統(tǒng)治的愿望。
