靜院深庭小雪霏，

爐邊相聚說春歸，

窗燈掩映辮兒垂。

笑憶初逢詢玉鏡，

含羞不語指紅梅，

勸嘗甜酒換銀杯。

注：

1958年2月，農(nóng)歷除夕，作者與何玉春結(jié)婚。“玉鏡”一詞引自東晉溫嶠故事，后來被用作“聘禮”的代詞。

—On Lunar New Year's Eve, 1958

Snow drifted about in the quiet yard hidden deep,

Around the stove chatted we over spring's back trip,

Your braid drooped long against the window lamp.

Merrily we recalled the “jade mirror” on our first date,

You pointed to the red plum, silence demure to keep,

Persuading me sweet wine to drink for the silver cup.

Note:

The couple married on Lunar New Year's Eve in February 1958. “Jade mirror”is quoted from the story about Wen Qiao in the Eastern Jin dynasty, as a substitute for “bride-price”.
