1　General Provisions

1.0.1　This Code is developed to avoid and reduce equipment damage and personnel injury due to lightning strokes，and standardizing the design of lightning protection in petrochemical plants and their support facilities.

1.0.2　This Code is applicable to lightning protection design for new construction，extension and renovation of petrochemical plants and their support facilities，but it is not applicable to lightning protection design for crude gathering facilities，long-distance transmission facilities，and oil storage and distribution facilities constructed outside of petrochemical plants.

1.0.3　In addition to this Code，design of protection for petrochemical plants against lightning shall also comply with the current national codes and standards.
