（14）名詞所有格（Nouns in Possessive Case）

名詞的所有格由加’s（apostrophe s）于名詞而構(gòu)成，但在如下的場(chǎng)合，s 可省去，僅用“’”。

（1）有復(fù)數(shù)語尾 s 的復(fù)數(shù)名詞：

如 A girls’ school；the students’ rooms.

（2）最后音節(jié)為“s + 元音 + s”的固有名詞：

如 Mo ses ’ laws；for Je sus ’ sake.

（3）有 s 或 ce 語尾的單數(shù)名詞，用在 for...sake 之間者。

如 For appearance’ sake；for goodness’ sake.

合成語的所有格，’s 應(yīng)加在最后一字上。

如 My mother-in-law’s child；the Queen of England’s yacht；his brother George’s wife.
