26．大林寺桃花
人間四月芳菲盡，山寺桃花始盛開。
長恨春歸無覓處，不知轉入此中來。
中文解讀
此詩作于唐憲宗元和十二年（817年）四月。白居易時任江州（今江西九江）司馬，年四十六。初夏四月詩人來到廬山大林寺，此時山下芳菲已盡，而不期在山寺中遇上了一片剛盛開的桃花。原來春并未歸去，不過是轉到這山寺里來了。
這首詩中，詩人不僅用桃花代替抽象的春光，把春光寫得具體可感，形象美麗；而且還把春光擬人化，把春光寫得仿佛真是有腳似的，可以轉來躲去。豈止是有腳而已，它簡直還具有頑皮惹人的性格呢。在這首短詩中，自然界的春光被描寫得如此生動具體，活靈活現，如果沒有詩人對春的無限留戀、熱愛，沒有詩人的一片童心，是寫不出來的。這首小詩的佳處，正在立意新穎，構思靈巧，而戲語雅趣，又啟人神思，惹人喜愛，可謂唐人絕句小詩中的珍品。
白話譯文
在人間四月里百花凋零已盡，高山古寺中的桃花才剛剛盛開。
我常為春光逝去無處尋覓而悵恨，卻不知它已經轉到這里來。

英譯欣賞
好的譯文不僅可以給讀者帶來美好的享受，還可以增加讀者對原詩的理解，這首詩的英譯就是這樣。英譯一是網友東波所譯，譯文第二、四句押韻，英文意思簡潔易懂，以直譯為主。英譯二是北京大學許淵沖教授的翻譯，采用aabb押韻，以意譯為主，整個譯文傳神合意，朗朗上口。
“人間四月芳菲盡”，英譯一：This May in the world down below their fragrance is gone；英譯二：All flowers in late spring have fallen far and wide，這里的“人間”指的是山下的世界，英譯二取其意，不直譯。“四月”英譯一用This May，英譯二譯成late spring，都無不可。
“山寺桃花始盛開”，英譯一：Here by the mountain temple peaches just begin to blossom，似乎強調“始”。英譯二：But peach blossoms are full-blown on the mountainside，似乎強調“盛開”。
兩個譯文角度不同，特點不同。
“長恨春歸無覓處”，英譯一：I thought that spring had fled，似乎簡單，沒有表達出“恨”之意，更沒有體現“無覓處”的意思。英譯二：I often regret spring's gone and I can't find its trace，意思表達準確到位。
“不知轉入此中來”，英譯一：I thought that spring had fled, Didn't（=I didn't）realize that up here it still blooms, thought表示以前錯誤的想法，意指我原來以為，與后面的I didn't realize（但是沒有想到）呼應。英譯二：I often regret spring's gone and I can't find its trace, Without knowing it's（=it has）come up to adorn this place，這樣的英文更顯意味深長，讀者可仔細品味。
