[BD]Badminton's SHI（CHN）and JOSHI（IND）Prefer Singles

（NANJING,18 Aug.）Badminton moved into the second day of competition with the group play round two matches for men's and women's singles, and mixed doubles at the Nanjing Sports Institute Gymnasium.

While many shuttlers find the new mixed doubles format fun, that may not be enough to shift their focus away from the singles.

China's SHI Yuqi who beat SEO Seungjae（KOR）21-15,21-11 in the men's singles group A matches said, “I'm a singles player so in doubles I have to adjust my movements to share the court.”

SHI, who is the men's singles junior world No.1, has set himself a modest target of reaching the top four in men's singles and cites his teammate LIN Guipu（CHN）as his toughest opponent.

Where the doubles is concerned, although SHI and partner Joy LAI（AUS）made it through their first two group matches, he said, “I have communication problems because my partner only speaks Cantonese and English, and I only speak Mandarin.My coach speaks Cantonese so it helps.”

Another athlete hoping for Youth Olympic success is Aditya JOSHI（IND）.

He said, “Although it will be tough to win a medal in the men's singles, and the mixed doubles probably offers a more level playing field, I intend to focus on singles.”

JOSHI beat Ruslan SARSIEKIENOV（UKR）21-14,21-13 in the group D men's singles.“I think I won today because I was more consistent throughout and scored points with the long rallies.”

In the doubles, JOSHI and Tessa KABELO（BOT）lost to Alida CHEN（NED）/Andraz KRAPEZ（AUT）21-13,17-21,21-13.He added that although there are no communication problems as KABELO and he both speak English, there is not much contact with his partner off the court.“We just come here, play our match and go our separate ways,” he said.

In the women's singles, favorite YAMAGUCHI Akane（JPN）had another easy day, taking only 25 minutes to beat Thilini Promodika HENDAHEWA（SRI）21-13, 21-6.

Janine LAIS（AUT）gave HE Bingjiao（CHN）a scare in the first game when she won 21-17, but HE came back 21-11,21-3 for the win.

二、“綜合新聞”例文（News Article）

在新聞服務的稿件類型中，“綜合新聞”比較特殊。有些綜合新聞只有中文稿，而沒有相應的英文版本。這是因為新聞服務的英文記者們主要被安排在各個競賽場館觀看賽事，直接用英文采寫競賽新聞，而后被新聞服務專門的翻譯團隊翻譯成中文稿件；但一些非競賽新聞，比如很多運動員村的新聞及與賽事有關的文化教育類新聞，由于人手不夠，常常不能夠配備足夠的英文記者，所以這一類非競賽新聞常常直接用中文寫成，沒有相應的英文稿件。

[羽毛球]羽毛球名將程文欣參加青奧會體育啟蒙活動

（南京，8月19日）羽毛球名將程文欣（中華臺北）18日來到南京萬達廣場，參加南京青奧會體育啟蒙活動。

程文欣和雙打搭檔簡毓瑾并稱為臺灣“黃金女雙”，她曾獲2008年亞錦賽女雙亞軍、2010年世界錦標賽女雙季軍、2011年世界羽聯黃金大獎賽美國公開賽混雙亞軍、2011年日本羽毛球超級賽混雙冠軍、2011年澳門羽毛球黃金大獎賽混雙亞軍、2012年澳大利亞黃金大獎賽女雙亞軍和混雙冠軍。

程文欣和南京市第十二中學羽毛球團隊的同學們一起參加體育啟蒙活動。首先，十二中老師向程文欣介紹了學校羽毛球隊的訓練情況，隨后羽毛球隊的同學們講解并演示羽毛球運動的基本常識、比賽規則及著裝要求，吸引了很多人圍觀。同學們還進行了羽毛球基本功展示，程文欣進行了指導。

程文欣說，打球要很開心，很快樂，感染到觀眾就成功了。交流指導后，程文欣與十二中的同學們進行了女雙對男雙的友誼對抗賽，現場氣氛熱烈，公眾參與熱情高漲。隨后，十二中同學們與現場小朋友進行對練，一旁的程文欣認真觀戰，觀眾熱情地加油助威。

談到對于青少年羽毛球運動的期待，她說，青少年處于身心快速成長的階段，除了力量和速度的訓練之外，技巧的磨煉在后期顯得更為重要，所以青少年需要努力去加強技巧方面的磨煉。

[BD]Sport Preview:New Badminton Mixed Doubles Format to Foster Friendships

（NANJING,15 Aug.）The Nanjing Sports Institute Gymnasium is expected to get crowded as the world's young shuttlers take to the courts from 17 to 22 August for the second Summer Youth Olympic Games, Nanjing 2014.

Not only is badminton one of the most popular sports in China, of particular interest will be the new mixed doubles format which combines one male and one female athlete from different NOCs.

“This is part of the IOC concept for the Youth Olympics, which the Badminton World Federation（BWF）supports because we believe it can help build closer ties between the athletes and the other NOCs.As much as these Games are about developing young talent, it is also about bringing youth together through sports as well as the culture and education activities,” said Lawrence CHEW, event delegate and BWF council member.

Due to the lack of precedent and a ranking system for such a format, the pairings were done by matching the top-ranked singles players in the women's list with players from the bottom half of the men's list, and vice versa.

“All the singles players will take part in the mixed doubles so the NOCs did not have to enter any additional players.We matched the top half with the bottom half from the respective ranking lists so that the pairs will be evenly matched against others, with one player stronger than his or her partner,” said BWF events manager Venugopal MAHALINGA.

The matching of the pairs was done on 8 August at the BWF headquarters in Malaysia.Women's singles top seed and world No.1 ranked junior YAMAGUCHI Akane（JPN）, will partner Ruslan SARSIEKIENOV（UKR）, No.27 in the men's world junior ranking.

SHI Yuqi（CHN）, the top seed and world No.1 men's junior singles player, is paired with Australia's Joy LAI, world No.35 junior women's singles.

On 15 August, BWF conducted the mixed doubles draw for the Nanjing 2014 Games which sets YAMAGUCHI/SARSIEKIENOV against Tessa KABELO（BOT）/Aditya JOSHI（IND）in the first match at 18:30 on 17 August.

The men's and women's singles draws were also carried out to place players into eight groups of four.

In the men's singles, SHI, the men's singles runner-up at the 2014 BWF World Junior Championships, is in Group A with Bernard ONG（SIN）, SEO Seungjae（KOR）and Abraham AYITTEY（GHA）.

YAMAGUCHI, a two-time women's singles world junior champion is in Group A with Mia BLICHFELDT（DEN）, Thilini Promodika HENDAHEWA（SRI）and Chlorie CADEAU（SEY）.

The men's and women's singles, and mixed doubles offer three gold medals.There are 64 players in total—32 men and 32 women.Each NOC has entered one man and one woman athlete with China, as the host, being represented by two men and two women.

羽毛球在中國是一項非常熱門的運動，而青奧會的羽毛球比賽還有創新之處，即混雙比賽的搭檔隊員將來自不同的代表隊，這更會引起人們的興趣。

世界羽聯代表勞倫斯說：“這是國際奧委會關于青年奧運會的概念的一部分，這一概念得到了世界羽聯的支持，因為我們覺得可以讓不同代表隊的運動員關系更加親密。青奧會本來就是要培養體育人才，它理應通過體育以及文化教育活動讓年輕人走到一起。”

由于缺乏這樣一種比賽模式的先例和排名系統，參賽組合通過將女選手中排名靠前的單打選手與排名靠后的男選手相匹配組成，反之亦然。

8月15日，世界羽聯進行了青奧會羽毛球混雙比賽抽簽，首場比賽于8月17日下午6時30分開賽，由山口茜和薩爾謝克諾夫組合對陣博茨瓦納的特莎·卡貝羅和印度的阿迪塔·約什組合。

男子和女子單人賽抽簽也已經完成，每4人一組，共有8組。
