Lesson 17 Lemonade Stand

“I want to buy a skateboard,” said Nicky. “But I do not have enough money.My dad said that if I pay for part of it, he will pay for the rest. How can I make some money?”

“I know, ”said Lena. “You can sell lemonade. I’ll help. We can sell it on the bike path. People who ride will be thirsty.”

The children found a folding^① table. It was in Lena’s garage^②. Her mother helped them make lemonade. She baked some cookies, too. Nicky’s father carried the table to the bike path. He sat on a bench and read a newspaper.

Nicky and Lena sat behind the table. A big sign said, “Lemonade and Cookies,50 cents each.” People saw the children sitting there. They also saw the sign. They stopped. Nicky and Lena were very busy!

Soon, all the lemonade was gone. The children smiled at each other.
