Women’s imaging has evolved tremendously and rapidly over the past years.With the advancementof computed tomography andmagnetic resonance imaging and their clinical applications in the evaluation of diseases related to women，this subspecialty （Women’s imaging）is now a division in the Department of Radiology （Medical Imaging）at Keck School of Medicine，University of Southern California.This trend is now widespread in many medical institutions in the United States and itwill be for sure to take its roots in variousmedical institutions in China as well.My heartiest congratulations to Dr.Qiang for the publication of this excellent book entitled “Women’s Imaging”，which included normal anatomy of the female pelvis，modern imaging techniques，diseases of the fallopian tube，congenital anomalies，and benign as well as malignant diseases of the ovaries and uterus and so on.Due to the rapid pace of advance in women’s imaging，amulti-authored approach was taken in this book as itwould be impossible for any single individual to keep pace with all the advances and novel techniques in women’s imaging.

Dr.Qiang has completed his post-doctoralwork inmedical imaging asa visiting scholaratDepartment of Radiology，Keck School ofMedicine，University of Southern California during the 2006-7 academic year.During his stay at USC，Iwas impressed by hiswork ethic and relentless pursue for perfection.His thirst for new knowledge was seldom quenched.Dr.Qiang was one of the outstanding visiting Chinese scholars in medical imaging at Keck School of Medicine，USC.Upon his return to China，Dr.Qiang has accomplished numerous achievements and been bestowed many awards，including over 140 publications in the scientific journals，research fundings from National Natural Science Foundation of China，the best teacher’s award from Fudan University，Director for special residency training program，scientific award from ShanghaiGovernment，just to name a few.Ten years later，his hard work is now beginning to pay its dividend.This book is just the beginning ofmany contributions that Dr.Qiang will offer to the field ofmedical imaging in the future.

This book is published in a timely fashion，as themodern imagingmodalities，such as CT，MRI and PET/CT are now becomingwidely available in China，not only in the hospitals in large cities，butalso in second and third tier cities.A large number of imaging specialists equipped with the current know ledge of women’s imaging will be needed to meet the ever increasing demand for medical services in China.This book can certainly serve as a reference book for practicing radiologists aswell as a textbook for young residents in the field ofwomen’s imaging.
