五、 分數、小數、百分數
? 分數（fraction）：分數中分子由基數詞表示，分母由序數詞表示（基數詞+序數詞）。當分子大于“1”時，表示分母的序數詞要用復數。分子和分母之間用連字號。
1/2 → one-half
2/3 → two-thirds
1/4 → one-quarter/one-fourth
1/3 → one-third
3/5 → three-fifths
7 2/3 → seven and two-thirds
整數與分數之間用 and連接。
◇ Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. 四分之三的地球表面被水覆蓋。
分數位于句首不能用阿拉伯數字，要用英語拼寫出來。
提示
? 短語one-half the audience（一半的觀眾）中的 one-half 表示分數（1/2）；而詞組“one half...the other half”（一半……另一半）不需要用連字號。
? 比較：
less than two-hundredth 不到百分之二
表示分數（2/100），需要連字號。
celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the founding of our university 200周年校慶
不表示分數，而表示序數詞（200th）不需要連字號。
? 小數（decimal）：小數點讀“point”，小數點左邊的數字按正常基數詞讀，右邊的數字需要每個數字單獨讀出，但如果是十位數的小數目，也可按正?；鶖翟~讀。
0.45 → （zero） point four five=（zero） point forty-five （十位數的小數目）
15.389 → fifteen point three eight nine
0.2075 → （zero） point two zero seven five
? 百分數（percentage）的表示法。
①百分數“%”用 percent表示，percent 不用復數形式，percent前常用阿拉伯數字，但在句首時則用英語數詞表示。
80%=80 percent 百分之八十
a 20 percent rate （20 in every 100） 百分之二十的比率
40 percent discount 6折
◇ Last semester64percent of the freshmen passed the English exam.
= Sixty-four percent of the freshmen passed the English exam last semester.
上學期64%的大學一年級學生通過了英文考試。
②在目錄（tables）、商務表格（business forms）或涉及統計方面（statistical matter）的百分比數字，可以用符號“%”。
◇ They give discounts of 20， 30， and 40 percent.
= They give discounts of20%， 30%， and40%. 他們的折扣有8折、7折和6折。
如果有一系列百分比的數字，percent只用于最后一個數字；但如果用符號“%”，每一個數字后面都要用“%”。
