勃蘭登堡門Brandenburger Tor

The Brandenburger Gate is situated at the end of Unter den Linden, a grand boulevard in Berlin. It was originally part of a wall surrounding Berlin and was the main entrance to the city. It is the only gate that remains of this former city wall. The Brandenburger Tor is a monumental gate built in the 18th century as a symbol of peace. During the Cold War, when the gate was located right near the border between East and West Berlin, it became a symbol of a divided city. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburger Gate has become the symbol of a reunified Berlin. The desolate area that Pariser Platz was during the cold war, is now completely redeveloped and has regained much of its 19th century grandeur.

勃蘭登堡門位于柏林一條寬闊宏偉的林蔭大道菩提樹下大街的盡頭。它最初是柏林墻的一部分，也是進入柏林市的主要入口，而現在它也是這座城墻僅剩的一個大門。勃蘭登堡門建于18世紀，是一座紀念性的大門，也是和平的象征。冷戰期間，這座大門剛好處在東柏林和西柏林之間的邊境線上，因而它便成為分割城市的標志。柏林墻倒塌以后，勃蘭登堡門又成為柏林統一的標志。冷戰期間荒涼的巴黎廣場區域現在已經重新得以修建，再次恢復了它在19世紀時的輝煌。
