鄧小平是一位有世界眼光的國際活動家，為了給中國的改革開放創建一個十分有利的國際環境，他以充沛的精力進行外事活動，虛心學習發達國家的成功經驗，大膽從資本主義國家引進資金技術，拉開了“對內改革，對外開放”的劃時代的歷史大幕。他頻繁接見外國來賓，出訪許多發達國家，接觸外國政要、著名企業家和各界知名人士，嘔心瀝血地為中國改革開放謀篇布局，大刀闊斧地開展外交活動，把世界的目光吸引到中國來，為中國的經濟發展贏得了寶貴機遇和時間，也深刻影響了世界歷史的進程。1979年1月、1986年1月，他兩度成為美國《時代周刊》的年度風云人物。

Deng Xiaoping has certainly played an essential role in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He has transformed modern China with his determination, vision and effective leadership. He has won enormous trust and respect from the Chinese people for his revolutionary accomplishments, and for his wisdom and prestige as a true Marxist.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Deng Xiaoping has been a key member of the first generation of CPC leaders, and he is the core of the second generation of CPC leaders. With extraordinary courage and leadership, he corrected the mistakes of the Cultural Revolution and brought the country back to order and normalcy. The various reform programs that he had initiated eventually launched China on a path of phenomenal economic growth and prosperity. Like a bright lamp hanging over China, he had guided the Chinese people out of darkness and lighted up their future countless times.

The death of Deng Xiaoping is far from the end of his great cause. His enduring accomplishments will forever be remembered by his motherland, and he will always be alive in the hearts of the Chinese people.

Deng Xiaoping was an extraordinary international activist with a global vision. In order to create a favorable international environment for China's reform and opening-up, he had committed himself to diplomatic activities with abundant energy, and initiated the historic reform and opening-up of China. He was humble and open-minded when he learned successful experience from developed countries, and he was audacious when he imported foreign investment and technology from capitalist countries. He met with foreign guests frequently, visited numerous developed countries, and made friends with global leaders, famous entrepreneurs and celebrities from all walks of life. He designed China's reform and opening-up program with painstaking efforts, and pushed through China's diplomatic campaign to connect with the world. Through his tireless efforts, he had earned time and precious opportunities for the country's economic development. The fact that he had been twice named Man of the Year by Time magazine testifies to his profound influence on the course of human history.
