Day 13 “陽光男孩”不能說成sunshine boy

A: Great! I'm always in a good mood. I'm a sunshine boy.

D: You're a what?

A: Ya，I'm a sunshine boy.

D: Alex，we don't say that. I think you mean you're positive or optimistic.

A: Ya，I am!

All right，聽完今天的對話之后，要給大家講的是sunshine boy。為什么不能說sunshine boy或者是sunshine girl，大白？

Well，this is quite simple. It's Chinglish. In Chinese you can say you are a “sunshine” person，but in English we just don't say this. I often hear my student say：I am a sunshine girl；I am a sunshine boy. I tell them：You are optimistic，or you are positive.

以前經常聽到很多學生在做自我介紹的時候說“I'm a sunshine girl.”或者“I'm a sunshine boy.”，自己是“陽光男孩”或者是“陽光女孩”。在中文當中我們有這種說法，但是在英文當中沒有。

如果你要表示自己比較積極向上，你可以說：I'm a positive girl; I'm a positive boy.

如果你要表達你是一個樂觀的人，就可以說：I'm an optimistic person.
