Time for action - loading characters
Just like props, characters can be loaded into the workspace by several methods:
- Drag-and-drop from the Avatar panel in the Content Manager.
- Drag-and-drop from a Windows Explorer window.
- Double-click on a character or use the Apply button in the Content Manager. The character will be loaded into the center of the workspace with their feet on the ground.
- Import a character using the Import button in the Modify section.
It's time for us to import and scale our first character:
- Click on the Avatar tab on top and double-click on Dylan from the left side panel or drag-and-drop the character to the porch. If you can't see the character, then link it to something visible like the grill and with the Link To button use the Position option to position the character in your view.
- We are working at 50% scale so click on the LOCK XYZ box and move one of the sliders all the way to the left, reducing the character by 50%.
Your character should now be in scale for the scene:

What just happened?
We loaded our first character into the scene. We then made sure the X,Y,Z scale box was checked and scaled the character down by 50% to fit our scene scale.
It's not critical to keep objects in exact scale unless they are at the forefront of a scene. A few percent variance in scale may not be noticed, depending on the object's importance to the scene, but scale is a very important aspect of any scene and an improperly scaled prop or character will destroy the continuity of a scene.
