Time for action - setting the ambient light
Ambient light has a tremendous effect on the mood and the interaction of other lights in the scene. We will set up a darker ambient light than the default setting:
- You must select a light (Directional/Spotlight or Point) to access the ambient light setting color box that is located at the bottom of the light setting section on the right side menu.
- Click on the Ambient light color square in the right side menu.
- Set the RGB input boxes to 45, 45, 45. This darkens the ambient light to let more mood come through as it could be morning or evening instead of midday or afternoon.
What just happened?
We added and adjusted the ambient light for a morning or evening shot.
Adjustments to ambient light may be necessary as work on any scene progresses through this. You cannot always think of all the variables when setting up your ambient light so doing adjustments as you work is just part of the process. This Ambient light setting will give us a good starting point.
