Chapter 3. Enterprise Integration

Now that you are familiar with Admin Console and how to get around, the next component of EMM is the integration of AirWatch by VMware with your enterprise systems. It is critical and highly recommended that you integrate with your enterprise systems for greater security and control over your users and the environment. For example, if you already have an enterprise directory for your users, why duplicate the effort by creating the accounts again? I'd imagine you will also have a termination process in place with your enterprise directory. By integrating your enterprise directory with AirWatch, you create more efficient workflows by allowing your enterprise directory to manage the accounts and user information, which allows better scalability, especially if there are thousands of users within your deployment.

There are multiple enterprise integrations now available with AirWatch to provide that true EMM solution and allow you to leverage current implementations within your environment. This allows for a more integrated and secure solution. For your integrations, you will want to start with the core integrations into your enterprise systems. These core components include directory services, certificate services, e-mail integration, and logging. To integrate with these core components, AirWatch has its ACC tool. In this chapter, we will look at what is required to get the ACC tool configured and set up to provide the core integrations.

Once we've walked through the ACC setup and configuration, we will give you an overview of the other AirWatch integrations that include the SEG and the Mobile Application Gateway (MAG). To finish off the chapter, we will look at third-party enterprise integrations that are available with AirWatch.
