Summary
We have covered why SDDC management differs drastically from HDDC management, so much that you have to have two different modes of separation if you are not 100-percent virtualized.
We used the restaurant analogy to see that you need to shift your focus from your infrastructure to your customer. A lot of IT departments struggle because they did not shift their management focus to the consumer layer. The shift also requires the use of new counters, and we introduced the Contention counter. We also saw that you need super metrics in this new management.
We closed the chapter by providing guidance on the vRealize Operations dashboard. The next four chapters will share some dashboards that demonstrate how vRealize Operations helps in performance and capacity management. There are many possibilities for these dashboards. For example, you can enhance them to include availability-related information, since a fault can certainly impact performance. You may also decide to combine performance, capacity, and configuration into a series of dashboards that you check as one set.
