Installing UCS chassis and rack rails

UCS chassis houses all the major components except Fabric Interconnect that can be connected as a standalone switch through copper and optical cables. It is extremely important to install the chassis with precautions as this is the heaviest device from all the components. UCS chassis comes with adjustable rack rails that can accommodate its whole weight including all other components. The following is the procedure for installing rails and chassis:

1. Insert the adjustable rails in one side in correct square holes. The holes should be the planned based on the number of devices that will be stacked in the rack.
2. Similarly insert the other rail on other side in the correct square hole, parallel to previous side.
3. Make sure the RU unit is same on both side and there should not be any angles between them.
4. Insert the empty chassis manually or through lift and place it on the mounting rail.
5. Slide the chassis on the rail till the depth of the rail.
6. Once chassis is properly seated, place all the components one by one in it.
