Architecture of a typical IoT project

When dealing with IoT projects, there are certain key factors that should be kept in mind, some of which are as follows:

• Choice of hardware
• Choice of the networking protocol
• Choice of the sensors
• Choice of the IoT platform

Beside the previously mentioned points, several other factors come into play that will be clear later in the chapter. When dealing with IoT, the first thing that comes to our mind is uploading data. Typically, what is involved in an IoT project is we take readings from sensors and upload them to the Web. In this process, several sub-processes, such as processing and filtering data, analytics, and machine learning, come to play.

• Sensors
• Controller actuators
• IoT platform or cloud
• Dashboard and alerts
