IoT has created a new need of advance protocols in many layers. There is not the need to device communication protocols, semantic, identification, infrastructure, and more. There are plenty of protocols developed for this kind of work and no one's quite sure about what will and will not work perfectly at the future. IoT is one of the top research interested in many universities and very complicated.
