How it works...
In this recipe, you learned how to create a new file geodatabase. You then created a new feature class within the geodatabase you created. Once you created the new feature class, you added several attribute fields to the attribute table associated with the feature class you created.
You then learned how to create a new feature dataset in your geodatabase. As you may recall from the previous recipe, feature datasets are an organizational unit in a geodatabase. They allow you to group related feature classes together so they are easier to find and so they can take part in a topology. Remember, all feature classes stored in the same feature dataset will have the same coordinate system. You will learn more about coordinate systems later in this book.
Once you created the new feature dataset, you added new feature classes within it using the skills you learned earlier in the recipe, this included creating several attribute fields.
