There are lots of corners of the internet where you can find additional canned assets to get started with a project. Even if it's just research, opening up other files and poking around is a great way to pick up workflows from other artists. As part of Blender's open source goodwill, many of these have Creative Commons options that you can use even for commercial purposes. If you want additional bells and whistles for your kitchen, model them yourself to your heart's content or look on sites such as blendswap.com, blendermarket.com, and blenderartists.com.
