4.3　Allowable Stress of Metallic Material

4.3.1　Allowable stress of metallic materials refers to the allowable tensile stress of steel.The allowable stress values shall be determined in accordance with 3.2.4.

4.3.2　The allowable stress of commonly used steel shall comply with Appendix A in this code.

4.3.3　For welded steel pipes，if the allowable stress values in Appendix A in this code are used for the materials of pipes and fittings，the allowable stress correction factor and the weld strength reduction factor under creep condition shall be taken into account in accordance with 6.2.1.

4.3.4　For cast pipes，if the allowable stress values in Appendix A in this code are used for the materials of pipes and fittings，the casting quality factor of 0.8 shall be taken into account.If supplemental inspection is required，a higher casting quality factor shown in Table 4.3.4 may be used，which shall in no case exceeds 1.00.

4.3.5　The allowable shear stress shall be 80% of the allowable stress values determined in accordance with Appendix A in this code.The allowable compressive stress on bearing surface shall be 160% of the allowable stress values.
