5.6　Choice of Type

5.6.1　The type of caster shall be selected according the comprehensive analysis on product mix，quality requirement and construction investment.

5.6.2　The curved multiple-point（or continuous）straightening type continuous caster can be selected for square billet，round billet and beam blank.

5.6.3　For the slab caster，the continuous（or multiple point）curved and continuous（or multiple point）straightening caster with straight mould（straight-curved）shall be first choice.

5.6.4　The vertical-bending or straight-curved continuous caster shall be selected for slab caster.

5.6.5　The horizontal caster is preferably used for steelwork with small steelmaking furnace and can also be used for casting of small sectional billet and round billet in special steel and alloy steel.

5.6.6　When casting the extreme alloy steel，the vertical or vertical-bending type continuous caster can be used.
