About the Author

Michael S. Dobson is an internationally known consultant and speaker in the field of project management, with a client list that has included Trane, Union Carbide, Bechtel, the GSA Public Building Service, the U.S. Mint, Australian State Rail, Scientific Research Corporation, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Dobson is the author of four previous books on project management: Practical Project Management (SkillPath, 1995), The Juggler’s Guide to Managing Multiple Projects (PMI?, 1999), Project Management for the Technical Professional (PMI?, 2001), and Streetwise? Project Management (Adams Media, 2003). With his wife, organizational development executive Deborah Singer Dobson, he co-authored Enlightened Office Politics (AMACOM, 2001, named as one of Library Journal’s 100 Best Business Books of 2001), Managing UP! (AMACOM, 2000), and Coping With Supervisory Nightmares (SkillPath, 1997). He is also the co-author of two successful military thrillers, Fox on the Rhine (Forge, 2000, a main selection of the Military Book Club) and Fox at the Front (Forge, 2003). He has also written Exploring Personality Styles (SkillPath, 1999), on the use of style and temperament sorters.

Dobson has been Vice President, Discovery Software International; Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Games Workshop US; Director of New Product Development, TSR, Inc. (publishers of Dungeons & Dragons?); President, Michael Dobson & Associates (career counseling, newsletter publication); and a member of the professional team (aeronautics and presentations) that built and opened the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in 1976. He holds a creative writing degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
