The idea of putting transistors and other electronics wired together on a single chip was first conceived almost half century ago. This has been proven to initiate a revolution with far-reaching influences on the way of our life. With nearly a billion transistors on the latest microprocessor, it is predicted that several times as many transistors on a chip are theoretically possible in the foreseeable future.
