Unit29 Obtaining a Driver’s License & Purchasing a Car 考取駕照&買車

在美國，考駕照是必須的。沒有車的話，很多地方都去不了。雖然在紐約和洛杉磯等城市，公共汽車和地鐵等交通系統十分發達，但是農村地區或較小城市的交通設施比較落后，必須自己開車才能到達。

bumper-to-bumper warranty 整車保修指對汽車的主要部件提供免費修理的保證。與之相關的有“5/50 warranty”等表達方式，它的意思是在5年保修期內行駛里程數在50，000英里以內的汽車可以獲得免費修理。

drive train warranty 指只保證對引擎、變速裝置、加速裝置等驅動裝置進行免費修理。

cash back 現金返還 例如：“$2500 cash back”的意思就是如果買車，汽車制造商就返還2500美元現金。

mileage 英里數 指汽車使用定量燃料可行駛的總英里數。MPG就是miles per gallon，意思是“加侖英里數”。

ABS 防抱死制動系統 是anti-lock braking system的縮寫形式。

fully loaded 指汽車已經安裝了所有可選配的裝置，俗稱“頂配”。

了解汽車的種類

sedan 轎車 指一般的四門轎車。一般情況下，轎車按排量和車身大小可以分為小型車、中型車、大型車。

coupe 雙門小轎車 指運動型汽車，與轎車（sedan）的外形相似，但是體積更小，且只有兩扇門。

SUV 運動型多功能車 是sports utility vehicle的縮寫形式。

convertible 活動敞篷式汽車

van 面包車

minivan 小型面包車

考取駕照和買車必備表達 精華 Expressions

Q: l like to apply for a driver’s license, please. 我想申請駕照。

A: Sure. You’ll have to take a written test first. 好的。您要先參加筆試。

考駕照必須通過理論筆試（written test）、視力測試（vision/eyetest）和上路測試（road test）這三次考試。

Q: How did I do on the road test? 我的路考成績怎么樣？

在駕駛考試中，road test是“上路考試”的意思，簡稱“路考”。

A: You passed, but you need to work on your parallel parking. 您通過了，但是您還需要多多練習平行泊車。

所謂平行泊車（parallel parking）就是指行車方向與車道方向保持平行，按順序在車道旁所設的停車位停車的方式。如果要表達因為超速而不及格，可以說：

You failed because you were speeding. 您因為超速不及格。

Q: What options would you like? 您想買什么樣的車？

A: I’d like an automatic transmission. 我想買輛自動檔的車。

automatic/manual transmission就是“自動檔/手動檔”的意思。此外，stick shift是指“手動變速車”，也可以簡單地稱作stick。如果想買帶空調的車，可以說：

I want air conditioning. 我想買帶空調的車。

Q: What are the standard features? 汽車的基本配置是什么？

standard features是指根據車的基本價格而配備的基本配置。

A: It comes with automatic transmission and air conditioning. 它配有自動變速器和空調。

come with sth.意為“帶有…”。如果要表達基本配置“包括汽車頂篷和真皮座椅”，可以說：

It comes with a sunroof and leather seats. 它配有汽車頂篷和真皮座椅

Q: What’s the sticker price? 汽車的標價是多少？

在汽車代理專賣店，待售汽車的車窗上一般都貼著寫有retailprice“汽車銷售價格”的標簽，上面的價格就是sticker price。

A: It’s $24,000, but we offer low financing. 標價是24,000美元，但是我們提供低息貸款。

low financing是說“貸款買車的利息很低”。在特別活動期間，制造商還會推出無息貸款（0% financing）。此外，還可以回答：It’s $30,000, but we’ll give you $3,000 cash back.（標價是3萬美元，但我們會返還3千元現金。）

記住這些表達：

Your license has expired. 您的駕照已經過期了。

Taxes, license and registration fees are extra. 稅費、執照費以及登記費都是另外收取的。
