I Will Laugh At The World
Try To Remember The Good Things
1. When times become difficult (and you know they sometimes will), remember a moment in your life that was filled with joy and happiness.
2. Remember how it made you feel, and you will have the strength you need to get through any trial.
3. When life throws you one more obstacle than you think you can handle, remember something you achieved through perseverance and by struggling to the end.
4. In doing so, you’ll find you have the ability to overcome each obstacle brought your way.
5. When you find yourself drained and depleted of energy, remember to find a place of sanctuary and rest.
6. Take the necessary time in your own life to dream your dreams and renew your energy, so you’ll be ready to face each new day.
7. When you feel tension building, find something fun to do. You’ll find that the stress you feel will dissipate and your thoughts will become clearer.
8. When you’re faced with so many negative and draining situations, realize how minuscule problems will seem when you view your life as a whole—and remember the positive things.
Shaking It Off 從生命中的枯井脫困
1. One day, a farmer’s donkey fell into a dried up well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided that the animal was old; the well needed to be covered up, and retrieving the donkey just wasn’t worth the effort. So he invited his neighbors to come over and help him bury the donkey in the well to put him out of his misery.
2. They all grabbed shovels and began to scoop dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and again cried pitifully. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down into the well and was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel load of dirt that hit his back, the donkey did something amazing. He shook it off and took a step up!
3. As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped triumphantly over the edge of the well and trotted off! As with the donkey, life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each setback we encounter is like dirt shoveled on our backs. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, by never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!
4. What seemed like it would bury the donkey actually blessed him—because of the way in which he handled his adversity. This is a key to one of the mysteries of life. If we face our problems, respond to them positively and refuse to give in to panic and bitterness, the adversities that come along to bury us usually have within them the potential to benefit and bless us!
5. It is up to us to remember to develop the ability to forgive, forget, and press toward our goal. We need to keep developing our faith, our hope and our ability to love unconditionally. These are the tools that will help us “shake it off and step up” out of the wells in which we find ourselves.
Work And Pleasure
1. To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real. It is no use starting late in life to say: “I will take an interest in this or that.” Such an attempt only aggravates the strain of mental effort. A man may acquire great knowledge of topics unconnected with his daily work, and yet hardly get any benefit or relief. It is no use doing what you like; you have got to like what you do. Broadly speaking, human beings may be divided into three classes: those who are toiled to death, those who are worried to death, and those who are bored to death. It is no use offering the manual laborers, tired out with a hard week’s sweat and effort, the chance of playing a game of football or baseball on Saturday afternoon. It is no use inviting the politician or the professional or business man, who has been working or worrying about serious things for six days, to work or worry about trifling things at the weekend.
