整本書所寫的昆蟲都使我感到有趣之極。這都要?dú)w功于作者的仔細(xì)觀察，細(xì)致描寫。如：螳螂的大腿下面生長(zhǎng)著兩排十分鋒利的像鋸齒一樣的東西。在這兩排尖利的鋸齒后面，還生長(zhǎng)著一些大牙，一共有三個(gè)?！盀槭椎哪菞l松毛蟲一面探測(cè)，一面稍稍地挖一下泥土，似乎在測(cè)定土的性質(zhì)”等，這些只有仔細(xì)觀察才能寫出來(lái)。光是仔細(xì)觀察還不夠，還要細(xì)致描寫，讀者才能看懂，又如“這小筒的外貌，有點(diǎn)像絲織品，白里略秀一點(diǎn)紅，小筒的上面疊著一層層鱗片，就跟屋頂上的瓦片似的”等，這些細(xì)致描寫，使整本書寫得更加生動(dòng)、具體，引人入勝。
